Hologram’s momentum in AEW came to a sudden halt last month when a knee injury forced him off TV for the rest of 2025. But now we know just how big things were supposed to get before that unfortunate twist.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW had mapped out a significant moment for Hologram—his first loss. And the man chosen to hand it to him was none other than El Clon.
“Original plans had El Clon ending Hologram’s winning streak in AEW. Hologram is expected to miss the rest of 2025 due to injury.”
The timing couldn’t have been worse. Just before the injury, Hologram was riding high after pinning Hechicero in a trios match on Dynamite, making it clear that AEW had big plans for the mysterious powerhouse.
As for El Clon, he’s not fading into the background. He recently made his presence known in a big way—costing Orange Cassidy his TNT Championship shot against Kyle Fletcher on the October 1 episode of Dynamite. That move officially aligned him with the Don Callis Family, a faction now stacked with serious star power.
With El Clon now deeply embedded in AEW’s top heel group and Hologram sidelined, fans are left wondering if this feud will be rekindled once Hologram returns. The heat is already there, and the story practically writes itself.
Should AEW pick things back up between El Clon and Hologram when the time comes, or move in a new direction altogether? Sound off in the comments and tell us what you want to see.
