Mariah May sent shockwaves across the pro wrestling landscape after making her WWE debut during the June 3 episode of WWE NXT. This came after she parted ways with AEW and now AEW’s internal reaction to May’s debut has been revealed.

While speaking during the post-NXT show, Sean Ross Sapp talked about AEW’s internal reaction to Mariah May’s NXT debut. He revealed that at least one person in AEW contacted him and said they saw May’s debut as a compliment.

They pointed out that WWE introduced two stars who were built on AEW television without even naming them. Even then, the audience still recognized and reacted to them in a big way. AEW viewed this as a positive sign of the impact their programming has made.

“I can tell you that at least one person in AEW hit me up and said, ‘Well, it’s pretty nice compliment to us that they have debuted two people that were made on AEW TV without naming them whatsoever. And everybody knew who they were and reacted to them.’ So, uh, that’s at least a positive for them.”
