Ronda Rousey’s unexpected appearance at AEW Revolution led to plenty of outrage online — but behind the scenes, it sounds like AEW isn’t losing any sleep over it.

During a March 16, 2026 Q&A session, WrestleVotes was asked about the company’s internal reaction to the backlash that followed Rousey showing up at the March 15 pay-per-view in Los Angeles. According to the update, the response backstage has been largely calm. The report noted that AEW expected the appearance to create conversation and views the reaction online as engagement rather than a problem.

“They brought her in to elicit a reaction. The general interaction on social media is good enough for AEW. From a company standpoint, there’s no negative reaction to her showing up last night. There’s no backlash behind the scenes from anyone saying, ‘Why is she here? She’s taking my spot.’ That’s not the feeling in the room.”

That internal reaction stands in contrast to what happened online immediately after the segment aired. Shortly after the Revolution broadcast from Crypto.com Arena, several viewers took to social media to criticize AEW for bringing the former UFC champion into the storyline. Some posts referenced past controversies involving Rousey, while others argued the surprise appearance distracted from the ongoing storyline between Toni Storm and Marina Shafir.

The segment itself happened right after “Timeless” Toni Storm defeated Shafir earlier in the show. Storm was celebrating inside the ring when Rousey suddenly appeared and stepped in to confront the AEW Women’s Champion face-to-face.

Security quickly rushed the ring to separate them as tensions escalated. Just when things appeared to be calming down, Shafir attacked Storm from behind and dropped the champion before exiting through the crowd with Rousey.

So in the end, the moment quickly became one of the most talked-about segments of the entire show — and based on this report, AEW appears satisfied with the attention it managed to get.

What do you think about AEW being unfazed by the backlash to Ronda Rousey’s appearance? Do you think the controversy helped the segment or hurt it? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback.
