Zayda Steel may not be signed to AEW just yet—but she’s already showing up backstage, and it looks like she’s preparing for her next chapter in Ring of Honor.
Shortly after it was reported that AEW had reached out to the former WWE ID prospect, Self Made PW dropped a major update: Zayda was recently seen behind the scenes at an AEW TV taping and even filmed a promo segment for the ROH brand. According to AEW sources who spoke with Self Made:
“Former WWE ID talent Zayda Steel has been spotted backstage at a TV taping. She is said to have recently filmed a pre-tape promo segment for the Ring of Honor brand and there are plans for her to wrestle on ROH in the coming weeks.”
Adding even more fuel to the story, a fan who claimed to attend the November 8, 2025 AEW Collision taping posted their account online, confirming Zayda’s presence during the ROH tapings:
“I attended tonight’s Collision and I saw her walking through the back of the crowd with RJ City near the end of the ROH taping after the live AEW airing. Didn’t seem like anyone else recognized either of the two passing by.”
This all comes after Zayda’s WWE ID deal expired in early October, which ended the promotion’s matching rights and opened the door for other opportunities. Word within WWE is that she chose not to re-sign when given the chance—freeing her up for a move like this.
During her ID stint, Zayda competed in EVOLVE and made appearances under the WWE ID banner in GCW and APAC. Outside the WWE system, she also wrestled in MLW—where she challenged for the World Women’s Title—and most recently worked matches for Marigold overseas.
Now that the AEW door is open and she’s already filming ROH promos, it’s just a matter of time before Zayda Steel makes her in-ring debut for Tony Khan’s promotion.
Should AEW make it official and sign Zayda Steel to the roster full-time? Do you think she’ll make an impact in ROH first—or jump straight to Dynamite? Drop your take in the comments below.
