AEW always tries to deliver the best show possible for each of their pay-per-views but they tend to last longer than fans would like and now AEW’s backstage reaction to the length of the pay-per-views has been revealed.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that after AEW Double or Nothing, he spent the day speaking with people in AEW about the length of their pay-per-views.

Alvarez stated that everyone he talked to in the company believes the shows are too long and should end before midnight on the East Coast. The only person he didn’t speak with was Tony Khan, who he assumed doesn’t think the shows are too long.

According to Alvarez, people in AEW feel like nothing can be done to change it, and while most agree the shows go on too long, Tony Khan and a small group of die-hard fans would still watch even if the show lasted nine hours.

“Well, yesterday I spent the whole day talking to all sorts of people in AEW and, uh, I will say with one exception—’cause if I say everybody, then like, you know—but it was actually everybody. Every single person was like, these shows are too long. We all know it. They should end before midnight on the East Coast. Like, every single person in that company that I talked to—except Tony, because I didn’t talk to him, because of course he doesn’t think they’re too long. Every single person there is like, they’re too long. He just does it. We can’t stop it. There’s nothing that can be done. Everybody knows it except Tony Khan and his small handful of the sickos that would watch the show if it were 9 hours long.”

Even Jim Ross previously admitted that AEW pay-per-views have too many matches. However, with Tony Khan sticking to his current strategy, it’s still uncertain if future pay-per-views will be shortened to make it more manageable for fans and wrestlers alike, as it’s been made obvious no one really likes the pay-per-views being so long.
