Kota Ibushi has been part of the AEW family for the past couple of years and he’ll be remaining with AEW for a while longer, since he just signed a contract extension.

Kota Ibushi took to his Instagram and uploaded a few videos, confirming that he has re-signed with AEW for another two years, calling it a major turning point in his life. He reflected on the surreal experience of riding on a private jet and said he still wants to keep living life to the fullest, though he can’t picture himself wrestling until the age of 45.

Ibushi shared that professional wrestling has been his entire life and remains a dream he’s had since childhood. However, he stated that achieving that dream requires enduring “99% hell,” which was far more grueling than he had ever imagined, from intense training to daily discipline.

Despite the hardships, Ibushi said it’s important to never look down and to keep aiming higher, believing he still hasn’t reached enough and that his journey is far from over.

“This was incredible‼️ A turning point in my life. You never think you’ll be born and get to ride on a private jet, right? And I just signed a new two-year contract 🖋️. I still want to live, and I have no choice but to live. But I can’t imagine myself wrestling until 45. What else do I want? I don’t know. Other than this, I’ve lived without knowing anything else — and pro wrestling really is a dream! Just like I thought when I was a little kid. But it’s not just good things — you have to go through 99% hell to get there. And that 99% hell was far beyond anything I could have imagined, from the training to daily life habits. Still, you must never look down. Keep looking up, higher and higher. This isn’t enough yet, not even close‼️ From here on out…”

Now that Kota Ibushi will be part of AEW for a couple more years, he has a huge match ahead of him as he’s set to team up with Darby Allin, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega to face off against The Death Riders, Gabe Kidd, and The Young Bucks in a Lights Out Steel Cage Match at Forbidden Door.

Kota Ibushi signing a new deal is great news for AEW and its fans. It means one of wrestling’s most creative and important stars will be staying for a while. With exciting matches ahead and his love for wrestling still strong, this next stage of his career could be his biggest yet.
