Injuries are always a risk in professional wrestling, and AEW has dealt with its fair share over the years. Unfortunately, it appears that AEW star may be dealing with a knee injury that could keep him sidelined.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that he received a photo of Brian Cage holding his knee. Cage was supposed to wrestle at the Chris Bey tribute show last weekend and was also scheduled for a match at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view on April 5th.
There are signs that Cage might be dealing with an injury. He was originally set to face Rich Swann at the tribute show but missed the event. He was also expected to team with Lance Archer against The Hurt Business at Dynasty, but the match lineup changed, with Big Bill and Brian Keith replacing them.
Brian Cage last wrestled on March 20th at an independent event. While nothing is confirmed, Cage’s absence most definitely makes fans wonder about his current status.
“I don’t know this, but all signs lead me to believe that Brian Cage has any injury. Have you heard that? Okay, I had gotten…Thursday night, I got an email from someone who I don’t know, and just with a photo of Brian Cage holding his knee and was wrestling Chris Masters. I don’t even know the city.
I don’t know that this is true, so I probably shouldn’t be saying, but he did miss the Chris Bey show. He was supposed to wrestle Rich Swan. Archer, and Brian Cage were, I believe, slotted for this pay-per-view against the Hurt Business. And now, all of a sudden, it’s like out of nowhere. It’s Big Bill and Brian Keith. So you got to do a makeshift thing.”
AEW has not made any official statement about Brian Cage’s status, and Cage has not addressed the rumors himself. If he is injured, it’s unclear how long he might be out or how this could affect his role in AEW’s ongoing storylines. Therefore, we will have to wait and see whether he will end up missing significant in-ring time.
