Britt Baker might have been one of AEW’s original stars, but it looks like she’s on the outs with the company—and possibly for good. According to PWTorch’s Wade Keller, Tony Khan has had enough of Baker’s behavior, and the locker room isn’t exactly begging for her return.
The former AEW Women’s Champion hasn’t wrestled since November 13, 2024, when she faced Penelope Ford on Dynamite. After that match, Serena Deeb confronted her, but Baker blew it off, repeatedly saying, “Nobody cares.” That moment may have been more real than people realized.
According to Keller, Baker has gained a reputation for being difficult to work with, and AEW officials are over it. “She might be done with AEW,” Keller revealed. “At least the feeling I’m getting from talking to people in AEW is Tony Khan might have her in the same category as some other wrestlers where they just don’t get phone calls and don’t get called in to show up.”
Baker’s backstage reputation has been a topic of discussion for years, but it sounds like things have escalated. “There is a lot of frustration with her,” Keller continued. “I’m told—and I’ve heard this pretty consistently—she’s wildly unpopular in the women’s locker room. One person said no one ever wants to see her come back, speaking of the women’s locker room. Now, that is a bold broad statement. I could imagine somebody on social media going, ‘I am a women’s wrestler in AEW and I want her back.’ Okay, fair enough, but I’m just telling you somebody’s perception is nobody wants her back. That’s how bad it is, somebody is willing to tell me that.”
Keller also confirmed that while Baker’s incident with MJF—which hasn’t been fully detailed—played a role in her current situation, it wasn’t the only reason she was removed from TV. “There was the incident with her and MJF, and I’m told that factors into her being off television, but there are other issues with her that have come up. She has become increasingly difficult to work with in a general sense. She has always had a reputation for being difficult to work with.”
Apparently, AEW had a breaking point. “There was a specific situation recently not counting the MJF situation where people just threw their hands up…It wasn’t like a huge deal, but it was enough to sort of be the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of just feeling like, ‘You know what? We’ve got a strong women’s division now compared to when she was on top, and we don’t need to deal with her if she’s going to be this difficult to work with.’ So that’s where they are with her,” Keller explained.
Despite rumors, Keller made it clear that Adam Cole has nothing to do with Baker’s absence. “I am told the Adam Cole situation is not stopping her. There should be no heat on Adam Cole, he has nothing to do with her not being on TV.”
Baker hasn’t addressed the rumors directly, but in December, she mentioned on Diamond Dallas Page’s YouTube channel that she was busy “filming some fun stuff.” That “fun stuff” might be her only gig for a while because, according to Keller, “At this point in asking around, you should not expect to see her back imminently.”
Back in September 2024, Ringside News reported that Britt Baker had an issue with Mercedes Mone, adding another layer to her backstage drama. Sources at the time claimed one of the most notable tensions backstage involves Britt Baker, who had issues behind the scenes, with Mercedes Mone being a major source of frustration.
Britt Baker went from being the face of AEW’s women’s division to being completely off TV, and if the backstage reports are true, she might not be coming back anytime soon. Whether this is just a temporary break or the beginning of the end, AEW seems to be moving forward without her. If this really is the final chapter, the question isn’t just where she’ll go next—it’s whether she’ll even want to come back.
With AEW seemingly moving on, the big question remains—will Britt Baker ever return, or is this the end of the road? Should Tony Khan bring her back, or is AEW better off without her? Let us know in the comments!
