The Britt Baker situation in AEW is getting harder to ignore, with the locker room now reportedly divided on whether the former Women’s Champion is staying or on her way out.

AEW fans have been speculating for weeks after reports surfaced that Baker might be considering a departure from the company. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on the situation—and made it clear that nobody outside of the key players knows exactly what’s happening.

“So, the only thing I wanted to say was that, you know—I mean, I’ve seen the stuff. I’ll only say that there’s two direct people who know, which are obviously Tony Khan and Britt Baker. And I just want to point out that neither denied anything. Neither confirmed anything. I’m sure that neither right now would confirm anything until something’s done. But nobody denied anything either, you know. So that’s where we’re at.”

According to Meltzer, the AEW locker room is split on what comes next. Some think this is a temporary situation and Baker will be back. Others believe she’s made up her mind.

“I know people in the company who think it’s just one of those things and she’ll be back. Other people think that she’s gone, wants to go.”

Baker, who hasn’t appeared on AEW television since November 13, 2024, is 34 years old—and Meltzer emphasized that her time in wrestling isn’t unlimited. He hinted that unless there’s another health scare, she likely wants to be active.

“I don’t think that she would—again, at her age, you know, 34, her clock is turning. I think she wants to be in action unless she’s hurt or ill, which—remember the last time she was gone for a long time, we later found out that, you know, I knew there were some health issues, but I didn’t realize how serious. That’s the reason she was gone for so long, because she had serious issues. And maybe, again, I don’t know. They kept that quiet. So that’s—I just wanted to update everyone on that.”

Baker hasn’t publicly commented on her AEW status, but fans are reading into everything—including her recent appearance at Animeverse, where she told Sammy Guevara:

“Good to see you, we’ll hopefully see you soon.”

Britt Baker staying quiet isn’t doing much to kill the rumors—but let’s be real, silence always fuels the fire. Whether she’s done with AEW or just laying low before a return, it’s clear the locker room and fans are both stuck guessing. One thing’s for sure—when Britt finally makes a move, it’s gonna get everyone talking.
