AEW had to scramble behind the scenes last week after Powerhouse Hobbs was unexpectedly sidelined.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company was still figuring things out while Dynamite was on the air, leading to a hectic night of last-minute adjustments.

“Some notes from the 2/1 Collision show. There was a lot of stuff behind the scenes. Partially due to Hobbs not being cleared, they were literally changing around the post-Dynamite tapings while Dynamite was on the air,” Meltzer reported.

Hobbs, who recently returned from a patella tendon rupture that kept him out for months, was set to be part of Wednesday’s tapings. However, earlier reports indicated that a fresh cut kept him from being cleared, forcing AEW to rewrite the show on the fly.

Despite his absence, Hobbs made it clear in a pre-taped segment that he isn’t done with Big Bill. Reflecting on their AEW Collision: Homecoming brawl that saw both men crash through tables, Hobbs vowed to return with a vengeance. “Once I’m cleared, I’m going to show Bill that hell was just the beginning.”

AEW’s live production isn’t easy to manage, and this week was proof of that. With Hobbs expected to be out for at least another week, it remains to be seen how AEW reshuffles its plans moving forward.
