AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling presented their first joint pay-per-view, AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door, on June 26, 2022, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The event continued as an annual crossover show. AEW announced an official attendance of 18,992 for Forbidden Door 2025 at London’s sold-out O2 Arena, identifying it as the largest wrestling crowd in O2 Arena history.

The fifth annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, at SAP Center in San Jose, California. AEW’s official announcement states that the event will feature stars from AEW, NJPW, CMLL and STARDOM and will broadcast live from the venue.
