AEW Dynasty 2025 brought a full night of action to the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, but what fans didn’t see was the scramble happening behind the scenes. From shuffled matches to last-minute decisions, the production was reportedly in flux right up until the show began.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, there were “constant changes” leading into the event. Meltzer reported that the AEW Trios Championship match’s time slot was changed more than once throughout the day. On top of that, he noted, “The decision to open with Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight was not finalized until just before the show started.”

Despite the backstage shakeups, AEW managed to deliver for the Philly crowd. Ospreay and Knight kicked things off with a banger, Mercedes Moné advanced in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, and the Trios Title match had the crowd fired up—ending with a jaw-dropping betrayal of Adam Copeland by FTR.

With All In on the horizon and AEW juggling surprise returns, tournaments, and title matches, it’s no surprise things get hectic. Still, pulling off a show under pressure like that shows just how tight the AEW crew runs their operation—even when the wheels are spinning mid-show.
