AEW is putting extra effort into making the January 7 episode of Dynamite feel like a major event. As the first Dynamite of 2026, the show is being treated as a strong reset for the new year, so fans can expect a solid show from start to finish.
AEW World Champion MJF will be making an appearance on AEW Dynamite this week. This comes after Hangman Page, Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & Brodido called out MJF for a future title shot. So we’ll have to see what MJF will have to say on the show.
Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland will team up to face off against Powerhouse Hobbs and HOOK in a Lights Out tag team match. Considering just how violent Lights Out matches tend to be, fans can expect the bout to get bloody really quick.
The ROH World Championship is up for grabs as Bandido defends against Sammy Guevara in a match that could definitely steal the show. Guevara is determined to kick off 2026 in a big way, so it remains to be seen whether he can beat Bandido in the end.
Jon Moxley continues his run as Continental Champion against Shelton Benjamin. If Benjamin beats Moxley, he’ll get a future shot at Moxley’s title. So, fans are waiting to see if the Hurt Syndicate member has what it takes to put down the Purveyor of Violence.
Toni Storm will continue her feud with the Death Riders as she goes one-on-one with Marina Shafir. Willow Nightingale also celebrates becoming the first two-time AEW TBS Champion after beating Mercedes Moné last week.
Jim Ross is also set to make his return on AEW television as part of the commentary team after a long absence. Finally, JetSpeed & Jungle Jack Perry will face off against The Demand in tag team action.
