Excalibur welcomes everyone to AEW Dynamite from Phoenix, AZ, highlighting the excitement from Grand Slam: Australia.
Ian Riccaboni and Taz join Excalibur as MJF’s music hits. He heads to the ring while Excalibur notes that security is in place to prevent any physical altercation. Hangman Page’s theme follows, and he makes his way out. The crowd chants “Cowboy sh*t!” as Hangman’s music fades. MJF casually removes his gum and tosses it into the crowd before saying he doesn’t speak poor.
He recalls AEW’s first-ever match, a gauntlet he had won until Hangman screwed him over. He says he had to fight his way to the top, taking down everyone’s favorite wrestlers along the way.
MJF glances at his Dynamite Diamond Ring and struggles to remember who he beat for his first one—before smugly reminding Hangman that it was him. He then runs down his list of titles and accomplishments, making it clear he’s been the best from the start.
Hangman questions why MJF is acting like he doesn’t know who he is. He points out that MJF listed all of his accomplishments but sounded angry while doing it. He thinks he knows why—because despite everything, MJF hasn’t truly won over the fans.
MJF snaps, telling Hangman to shut up. He says the fans chose Hangman as the main character—a guy who drank a man’s blood, attacked innocent people backstage, shoved a syringe through a man’s face, and even burned down a house. Yet, they still cheer for him. The crowd chants “Cowboy sh*t,” which gets bleeped.
MJF says everyone loves Hangman, but he has a question—does Hangman love himself? Did he after ending his mentor’s career and destroying Christopher Daniels? Hangman yells, “Don’t you dare!” and says Daniels is ten times the man MJF will ever be.
He insists Daniels went out like a warrior and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, calling him “the best of all of us.” The crowd erupts with a “Fallen Angel!” chant. Hangman warns MJF never to disrespect Daniels again before calling him a selfish, opportunistic coward. His “sh*t-eating grin” comment gets bleeped on TBS.
MJF and Hangman continue trading barbs in a back-and-forth exchange that starts to feel long and repetitive, with both men hammering the same points over and over.
Hangman finally wraps it up by declaring, “I am real,” before dropping the mic.
MJF smirks and tells Hangman he can be the main character all he wants—because he has no problem being the bad guy. Just as tensions boil over and they prepare to fight, security rushes in to separate them.
MJF raises his hands as if to back off, but suddenly turns and spits on Hangman. Hangman, now furious, lunges at him, but MJF quickly escapes as security steps in. Enraged, Hangman starts taking out security guards one by one. In the chaos, he winds up face-to-face with Christopher Daniels, his fist cocked back—but he hesitates.
Daniels, speaking off-mic, tells Hangman that this is exactly what he’s been fighting for all along. He urges him to take it out on MJF instead. “I know who you are, and you know who you are. You understand?” Hangman, processing Daniels’ words, lowers his hand and turns away. His music hits as he exits, closing the opening segment.
A video package recaps the key moments from AEW Grand Slam: Australia over the weekend.
Back live, Excalibur, Ian Riccaboni, and Taz appear on camera to hype the action still to come. With that, it’s time for the opening match of the night. The Patriarchy makes their entrance as Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Kip Sabian head to the ring, joined by Momma Wayne. As they settle inside, the show cuts to a quick pre-match commercial break.
Back from the break, The Undisputed Kingdom is interviewed backstage about Orange Cassidy vs. Roderick Strong later tonight, with mention of some members being friends with Cassidy. Adam Cole dismisses the concern, stating that friendships don’t matter—Strong is going to kick Cassidy’s ass. He punctuates it with his signature line: “And that is Undisputed.”
Back in the arena, Samoa Joe, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata make their entrance as a unit, complete with their group theme music. With all six competitors in the ring, the bell sounds, and Shibata and Kip Sabian kick things off. Shibata starts strong, controlling the pace early before tagging in Samoa Joe.
Joe bulldozes through anything that moves, delivering big back splashes and dominating the ring. After making his statement, he tags Shibata back in. Just as Kip Sabian begins turning the tide in favor of The Patriarchy, shifting the momentum for the first time, the show cuts to a quick mid-match commercial break.
Back from the break, The Opps regain control as Shibata continues his assault on Nick Wayne. Kip Sabian tags in to wear down The Wrestler, but momentum shifts again when HOOK enters the match. He sends Christian Cage out of the ring before turning his focus back to Wayne, nearly scoring the win.
Chaos erupts as all six men brawl. Joe blocks a Killswitch attempt and sends Cage flying to the outside before diving onto him. Back in the ring, Wayne sets up HOOK for Wayne’s World, but HOOK counters, locking in Redrum. Joe stops Cage from making the save as Wayne taps out!
Winners via Submission: The Opps
The Opps celebrate as a graphic announces MJF vs. Hangman Page is official for AEW Revolution. The broadcast then hypes up the main event, Statlander vs. Bayne, and a Street Fight between Powerhouse Hobbs and Big Bill—coming up next!
Back from the break, footage airs of Bandido pinning Chris Jericho at AEW x ROH Global Wars: Australia over the weekend.
Back live, Renee Paquette interviews Jericho, smirking as she brings up the loss. Jericho, visibly irritated, warns that he could have her thrown out of the building. He reminds everyone that he’s a nine-time champion and claims that in Australia, fans line up to take pictures with him, while Bandido is the guy they hand the camera to.
Jericho then rips up the Bandido bounty, declaring that he’ll defend his ROH Championship against him—just to remind people that they’ve been getting a little too comfortable around him lately.
Inside the arena, Justin Roberts handles the formal introductions for the next match—a Street Fight between Powerhouse Hobbs and Big Bill. The camera pans over the barbed wire and weapons scattered around the ring as Hobbs makes his entrance, followed by Bill. As soon as the bell rings, they waste no time, immediately brawling into the crowd.
Hobbs takes control early, draping Bill over the barricade. He sprints forward for a big shot, but Bill pops up and hurls a massive piece of production equipment at him, landing hard. Bill then pulls a giant wrench from under the ring, swinging wildly—but Hobbs dodges. Seizing the moment, Hobbs batters Bill with a steel chair, regaining control.
Big Bill shuts down Hobbs’ momentum with a brutal wrench shot to the head, dropping him instantly. The crowd erupts with a “We want tables!” chant, but Bill flips them off and ignores their request. Instead, he focuses on something else—moving the entire double-block of steel ring steps into position.
With Hobbs staggering, Bill charges in and blasts him with a big boot, sending him crashing to the mat. Blood pours from Hobbs’ head as Bill hoists him up and chokeslams him onto the steel steps. The show cuts to a mid-match commercial break as the chaos continues.
Back from the break, Hobbs, now a bloody mess, is back in control, unloading on Big Bill inside the ring. Bryan Keith rushes in to interfere, but Hobbs shuts him down, grabbing him and chokeslamming him through a table propped in the corner. The crowd erupts in a “Meat Forever!” chant as the chaos continues. Hobbs drags Bill onto the unforgiving entrance stage and slams him down hard. He then reaches for a backpack, revealing it’s stuffed with bricks. With a sinister grin, Hobbs swings it full force into Bill’s head, dropping him. After the impact, he dumps out the bricks onto the stage, making sure everyone sees exactly what just happened. Hobbs grabs the backpack full of bricks and smashes it into Big Bill’s skull. He then dumps the bricks out, revealing the damage done. Bill is now busted open, blood pouring from his head as the fight escalates.
The two warriors trade heavy shots before Hobbs grabs Bill and repeatedly slams his bloody head against the steel ring steps on the stage—once, twice, over and over again. With Bill barely standing, Hobbs drags him to the top of the steps, hoists him up, and chokeslams him off the stage—straight through a barbed wire-covered table below! The crowd erupts in a massive “Holy sh*t!” chant as Bill struggles to free himself, the barbed wire tangled around him. The referee begins his count, but Bill can’t recover in time.
Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs
Hobbs stands tall after an absolutely brutal Street Fight, leaving Bill a wreck at ringside.
Backstage, Renee Paquette is joined by Don Callis Family members Brian Cage and Lance Archer. They deliver a heated message to The Hurt Syndicate, making it clear that they have their sights set on the AEW Tag Team Championships. Without hesitation, they lay down the challenge—Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin vs. Cage and Archer for the AEW Tag Team Titles this Saturday on AEW Collision.
Justin Roberts stands in the ring and announces that AEW will return to Arizona in May for the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Right after, the new AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm, makes her grand entrance, escorted by Luther. The Phoenix crowd erupts in a huge ovation as she heads to the ring. Storm takes the mic and immediately addresses Mariah May, calling her a “sick b*tch” but admitting she’s proud of her for giving her the fight of her life.
She playfully references the phrase “the best things come in small packages” before cracking a risqué joke: “But you should have worn protection because I hammered you with the biggest [something] ever made!” She declares that Mariah May is finished, put to a permanent end, and as champion, she will fight the best in the world.
A special announcement follows, revealing that Gabe Kidd is set to appear on AEW Collision this week. A highlight package airs, showcasing Kidd’s dominance in NJPW, while Excalibur hypes him up for the AEW audience, emphasizing his intensity and hard-hitting style.
The commentary team then runs down the remaining lineup for tonight’s AEW Dynamite, teasing the big matches still to come. With that, the show heads into another commercial break. When the show returns, Renee Paquette is standing by with Willow Nightingale. She cuts Renee off and says last week she only got one minute of precious television time before her husband, Jon Moxley, and his cronies attacked her. She begins to talk, but sees Marina Shafir coming. They start brawling but Shafir quickly gets the better of her.
Jon Moxley walks up and he and Shafir walk off together. The camera follows them as they head into the ring. Mox says he’s AEW World Champion. That means this is his microphone. Those are his cameras. This is his ring. The fans are sitting in his seats. He says that means even “The Rated-R Superstar” can’t just walk in and challenge him.
Mox says Cope isn’t here tonight. He’s probably still on his ass in Australia. He brings up Cope’s challenge and says if he shows up at AEW Revolution, he will finish the job. He slams the mic down, but then Jay White’s theme hits and out comes “Switchblade.”
Cope’s music hits, and the crowd erupts as he storms to the ring. The fans sing along to his theme as he slides inside and immediately spears Jon Moxley.
Wasting no time, he reaches under the ring and pulls out Spike, sending Mox and The Death Riders scrambling up the crowd. Cope gives chase, forcing them to retreat.
Grabbing a mic while still in the crowd, Cope fires up the fans. “This isn’t his arena. These aren’t his seats. These aren’t his people— they’re my people!”**
He calls out Mox, knowing he’s probably already halfway back to his hotel but guaranteeing he’ll hear this. “You’re a coward. You got no nuts. You got no guts. You got no spine.”
Cope vows to take out Mox’s crew one-by-one, so by the time AEW Revolution arrives, it’ll be just the two of them—man to man. And when that moment comes “I’m gonna kick your ass.”
Backstage, Renee Paquette is standing by with Mercedes Moné. Moné wastes no time, declaring, “The CEO is here, and I don’t want any interruptions—or any puppets.” Paquette reassures her there won’t be any and shifts the focus to Moné’s dominant 14-0 record as TBS Champion. She then brings up Momo Watanabe, rolling footage of an interview Lexy Nair conducted with her. In the clip, Watanabe officially challenges Moné for the TBS Championship at AEW Revolution 2025.
Back inside the arena, Kris Statlander’s music hits, and she makes her way to the ring for the next match of the night. She gets a solid reaction from the Phoenix crowd as she steps inside the squared circle. As her music fades, the entrance theme for Megan Bayne hits, and she makes her way out, looking focused and ready for battle. Back from the break, Kris Statlander is back in control, dropping Megan Bayne with a stiff kick for a nearfall.
Bayne fights out of a Wednesday Night Fever attempt, forcing Statlander to the apron before landing some heavy shots—until Statlander counters and drops her onto the hardest part of the ring!
Bayne quickly recovers, hoisting Statlander back into the ring with a German suplex before driving her into the corner. They battle for position until Statlander shoves Bayne away.
With the referee distracted, Penelope Ford sneaks in and yanks Statlander off the turnbuckle, setting her up for disaster. Bayne takes advantage, slamming Statlander hard into the mat for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Megan Bayne
After the match, Ford immediately attacks Statlander, with Bayne nearly joining in—until Thunder Rosa storms the ring with a steel chair! Ford and Bayne retreat up the ramp as Rosa stands tall, protecting Statlander. The show then cuts backstage.
Backstage, Renee Paquette is with Max Caster, asking about his 0-2 record in open challenges so far. Caster insists that his approach isn’t the issue—it’s people like Hangman Page chasing him around before the bell even rings. Undeterred, he issues another open challenge for this week’s AEW Collision.
Back in the arena, Ricochet is introduced and makes his way to the ring, microphone in hand. Notably, he’s wearing a robe recently gifted to his rival. With a smug grin, he calls Phoenix a poor-man’s Las Vegas, immediately drawing heat from the crowd. He then compares himself to Kevin Durant, stating that, much like KD, he’s trying to get out of this town as soon as possible.
Prince Nana steps into the ring, addressing Ricochet directly. He reveals that he asked Swerve Strickland to stay home tonight so they could have a one-on-one conversation.
Nana acknowledges their months-long feud, admitting he doesn’t know exactly where it’s headed. But what he does know is that Ricochet is wearing a robe that doesn’t belong to him. He emphasizes that the robe carries decades of history, making it clear that Ricochet has no business wearing it.
Ricochet smirks and taunts Prince Nana, sarcastically asking if he’s going to cry over the robe. Nana glares at him, but before things escalate, the show cuts to a commercial break.
Back from the break, The Undisputed Kingdom’s theme hits, and Roderick Strong makes his way out, flanked by Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. Strong heads to the ring while Cole and O’Reilly take their spots at ringside.
Meanwhile, Jim Ross joins the commentary team as a special guest for tonight’s main event. Once Strong settles inside the ring, his music fades—and the crowd erupts as the familiar sounds of Orange Cassidy’s entrance theme hit. Making his return appearance, “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy walks out, looking cool and composed. The bell rings, and the main event is officially underway as Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong circle each other, ready to battle in this AEW International Championship Series matchup.
The match starts with back-and-forth action. Roderick Strong rolls out to hug Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly at ringside. Orange Cassidy dives through the ropes onto Strong, then playfully hugs O’Reilly before heading back into the ring.
Strong takes control, working over Cassidy in the corner. After taking one chop too many, Cassidy shakes his head, steps out of the ring, and holds his chest before re-entering. As he slides back in, Strong cuts him off, stomping him down and hitting a slingshot suplex for a two-count. Strong locks in a submission hold, cranking back on Cassidy as the crowd rallies. Excalibur leads us into a mid-match commercial break.
Back from the break, Orange Cassidy is mid-move, hitting a slingshot DDT on Roderick Strong. Both men are down. Cassidy starts firing up for his comeback. He does his signature hands-up, hands-in-pockets routine, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Picking up speed, he hits the ropes and lands a big dropkick—without taking his hands out of his pockets. He then bounces Strong’s head off the turnbuckle and follows up with a crossbody splash from the top rope. Cassidy looks for a Stundog Millionaire, but Strong counters. Cassidy quickly reverses into a tornado DDT, planting Strong for a two-count. The Phoenix crowd erupts with a loud “Freshly Squeezed” chant as Orange Cassidy looks for Beach Break, but Roderick Strong avoids it.
Cassidy quickly rolls up Strong, but Strong kicks out. Moments later, Cassidy connects with Beach Break, nearly scoring the win, but Strong barely kicks out at two. Strong fights back, delivering three Rock Bottoms onto his own knee before covering, but Cassidy stays alive.
Strong looks to lock in the Stronghold submission, but Cassidy counters into a quick pin attempt. Strong powers through, runs over Cassidy, and locks in a Texas Cloverleaf, but Cassidy reaches the ropes to force a break. Strong hits a big running knee, then lifts Cassidy, but Cassidy counters with a Stundog Millionaire. He fires up the crowd, measures Strong, and charges in with an Orange Punch—securing the victory!
Winner and earning an AEW International Championship match: Orange Cassidy
With the win, Cassidy will now face Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship next week on Dynamite.
Tony Schiavone steps into the ring to interview Orange Cassidy, but before he can say much, Don Callis interrupts. Callis walks out with Mark Davis and Konosuke Takeshita, mocking Cassidy by calling him a “red-headed hippie”. He then signals for his Don Callis Family members to attack.
Davis and Takeshita launch a two-on-one beatdown on Cassidy—until suddenly, Kenny Omega’s music hits! The crowd erupts as “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega sprints to the ring, forcing Callis’ men to retreat.
The show goes off the air with Omega, Takeshita, and Cassidy staring each other down, as the commentators hype them as the key players in the AEW International Championship picture, leading into next week’s Dynamite and AEW Revolution 2025.
