The August 20, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS had solid matches and exciting stories. One of the biggest moments featured Luchasaurus making his shocking return during the show. However, the show saw a sharp decline in viewership this week.
According to Dave Meltzer, the August 20, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS averaged 565,000 viewers, an 18.1% decrease from the 690,000 viewers the show drew on August 13.
In the P18–49 key demographic, Dynamite earned a 0.16 rating, down 5.9% from last week’s 0.17. This marks one of the lowest Wednesday night totals for AEW in recent months as the show was the go-home edition before AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw Luchasaurus making his unexpected return after being off from television for a year. He came out and destroyed Adam Copeland and Christian Cage and it was confirmed he was going to team up with Kip Sabian to take on Copeland and Cage at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
MJF also had Mark Briscoe held hostage thanks to Ricochet and his faction, leading to Hangman Page accepting a massive stipulation for his AEW World Title match against MJF at Forbidden Door.
