Ring of Honor’s move to Jacksonville just got a lot more interesting. After Tony Khan announced that ROH will now call WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida its official home base, Ringside News has received additional details about how these tapings are structured — and the setup is far more intimate than many expected.

One major detail floated to us is that the ROH tapings are free to attend. While that may sound like a major perk for fans in the area, there’s a significant catch: seating is extremely limited.

We’ve received conflicting information regarding capacity. One reader informed us that, per fire department regulations, the venue is only permitted to have 43 people in attendance. Another source suggested the number may be closer to around 100. Regardless of which figure is accurate, the takeaway is the same — this is a very small-scale environment.

For comparison, the WWE Performance Center in Orlando holds roughly 400 people, give or take. Even at the higher estimate, ROH’s Jacksonville tapings would operate at a fraction of that capacity, making it one of the most limited-access weekly wrestling television setups in the country.

We’ve also learned more about the financial side of the operation. According to the the venue’s website, AEW/ROH is around the ballpark figure of $3,200 to rent the WJCT Studios space from 6:00 AM until 11:30 PM on Sundays for ROH tapings.

With ROH now officially set to return to WJCT Studios on March 22, this Jacksonville setup appears to be more than a one-off experiment. It may very well be the long-term blueprint for the brand.

Do you think ROH going with a small, studio-style model is the right direction, or should the promotion aim for larger crowds moving forward? Let us know your thoughts below.
