Adam Copeland may still be an active AEW competitor, but don’t expect him to be glued to the TV every Monday or Friday night. The WWE Hall of Famer just dropped a truth bomb that caught fans off guard—he doesn’t really watch wrestling at all.
During an appearance on First Up with Korolnek & Colaiacovo, Copeland got brutally honest about how little attention he pays to the current product. “So I generally, this is gonna sound bad, but I don’t watch wrestling,” he admitted. “Just because immediately burned out in terms of, like, I think it’s one of those deals. When you’re doing it, doing it and watching it, it can be all consuming.”
Copeland said that when he made his comeback, he promised himself he wouldn’t get swallowed by the business again. “I told myself, and coming back this time, I wasn’t going to let it do that to me. So, you know, this time, I have a family. I have two kids and and my downtimes spent with them or watching hockey, as opposed to, you know, kind of critiquing and pulling apart the wrestling shows.”
While he doesn’t follow weekly storylines, Copeland admitted he’s not completely out of the loop. “I get my clips from Instagram, basically,” he said, adding that major wrestling moments—like John Cena’s heel turn—still register with him. “It’s always a good shot in the arm for the business, for sure,” he added, likening Cena’s character change to Hulk Hogan’s historic turn to the dark side with the NWO.
Copeland’s take offers a rare glimpse into how even top-tier wrestlers sometimes distance themselves from the industry when the cameras stop rolling. Whether it’s self-preservation, balance, or burnout, the Rated-R Superstar has made it clear where his priorities lie now—and it’s not on Monday Night Raw.
