Adam Copeland made his AEW debut at the WrestleDream pay-per-view in 2023. However, not everyone was happy about him leaving WWE. In fact, a former WWE star feels that Copeland’s reckless stunts in AEW are tarnishing the legacy he built as a WWE Hall of Famer.

While speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, Stevie Richards talked about the ultra-violent Street Fight between Jon Moxley and Adam Copeland. Richards said Adam Copeland is fortunate to be back in the ring after suffering a serious injury from falling off the top of the cage last year.

Richards praised Copeland’s physical condition and called him an incredible performer. However, he also expressed concern that continuing to wrestle would just tarnish Copeland’s Hall of Fame legacy.

Richards acknowledged that Copeland is likely doing it for a massive payday, and admitted he would too, but added that the legacy Copeland believes he’s building with this run might not be remembered in the way he hopes.

“Edge is lucky to be back in the ring after that severe break off the top of the cage. He’s in amazing shape, amazing worker. But dare I say it, you’re tarnishing your Hall of Fame career. And I know you’re doing it for a lot of money—and I would do it too. But the legacy you think you’re leaving, nobody’s going to remember this.”

AEW is known for its violent matches, and some people think Adam Copeland is showing how skilled he still is by being part of them. Other like Richards think his best days were in WWE and that doing these dangerous matches now could hurt his legacy instead of helping it. Therefore, we’ll have to see if Copeland will decide to change how he wrestles in AEW.
