The November 6th episode of AEW Dynamite featured Adam Cole defeating Malakai Black. After the match, Black shared a moment of respect with Cole as they embraced in the ring and this made fans wonder if Cole knew Black would leave AEW. Cole has now clarified that post-match moment with Black on Dynamite.
While speaking to In The Kliq, Adam Cole explained that he had no knowledge of Black’s situation with the company. He said the moment was simply a sign of respect between two wrestlers who had worked together for a long time.
“No, no. I really didn’t know what was happening with Malakai Black & AEW when we had our moment on Dynamite. So, again, I do have a history of working with Malakai. Just an unbelievable opponent, an unbelievable guy to step in there with and we’ve shared a lot of really, really cool moments together. So for me, all it was-was this personal moment between two guys who have a lot of respect for each other. I don’t know anything about — or didn’t know anything about what his plans were or anything like that. For me, it was just a cool moment with a friend after getting to work together for a long time.“
As reported earlier, Malakai Black officially parted ways with AEW last week after he was removed from the roster page, making it clear his time with Tony Khan’s company was truly over.
According to PWTorch, WWE has discussed Malakai Black in creative meetings as recently as last month, suggesting the company is preparing for his return. With Triple H leading creative, many believe Black could get the big opportunity he didn’t have in his first WWE run. Fans will have to wait and see if he finds success this time around as the possibilities are truly endless for Black.
