Just days before Lucha Libre AAA’s major FOX debut, a major update will surprise fans—The Motor City Machine Guns are back in action, and they’re heading straight to AAA’s next taping.

According to a January 12, 2026 report from PWInsider, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley are slated to appear at this weekend’s AAA TV taping. The news comes as AAA gears up for its live FOX premiere on January 17 in Mexico City, a landmark event kicking off the company’s new broadcast deal with FOX Corporation across Latin America.

This marks the first time the Machine Guns will be seen since their last WWE appearance on the November 21, 2025 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where they teamed with Rey Fenix, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura in a losing effort against The MFTs.

Meanwhile, AAA’s FOX debut is shaping up to be a massive spectacle. The January 17 event will feature top names like Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, El Hijo del Vikingo, Penta, Rey Fenix, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano, with live coverage on FOX, FOX One, and Tubi across Mexico, Central, and South America.

The premiere is also the first major crossover milestone since WWE’s acquisition of AAA through its partnership with entertainment group Fillip. WWE executive Patrick Dooley promised the move would “take Mexican sports entertainment to another level.” Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio—who launched his legendary career in AAA—called the deal a “full-circle” moment, adding: “Lucha Libre is part of our culture and bringing these stories to a broader audience is just the beginning.”

As for the Motor City Machine Guns, their sudden return could show the beginning of a new chapter—and maybe even a renewed run within WWE, AAA or both.
