Injuries are far too common in pro wrestling, and sometimes they afflict top names in the business. Nobody is immune to this fact, even someone like Will Ospreay.

Sean Ross Sapp noted on Fightful Select that Will Ospreay was backstage at AEW Dynamite this past week. This is interesting, because he hasn’t been in action for a while.

Will Ospreay has been off AEW television while recovering from neck surgery after doctors found two herniated discs at C-2 and C-6 pressing on his spinal cord. The injury caused arm issues and was confirmed after an MRI following a match at AEW All In Texas in July 2025. Ospreay had been working through the injury for months before stepping away.

Will Ospreay wrestled his final match to date after the diagnosis at AEW and NJPW Forbidden Door in August 2025, then underwent surgery. AEW wrote him off television after that event using an angle involving the Death Riders.

As of late 2025, Ospreay remains in rehabilitation and has not returned to AEW programming. There is no timetable for his return, but his appearance backstage at AEW Dynamite this week was a very good sign.

Will Ospreay is widely regarded as one of the best pro wrestlers in the world, but he is also banged up and injured. That being said, once he’s ready to go, he will probably get placed right back on top of Tony Khan’s priority booking list.
