Abdullah the Butcher gave his body to pro wrestling fans’ entertainment for decades and his body truly paid the price for it as he has been dealing with health issues. With that said, there is some good news, he has revealed that he is making great progress in his recovery.
Abdullah the Butcher had been in a wheelchair for years and needed daily assistance. Now living with his friend Malika, who helps take care of him, Abdullah posted a video on Facebook thanking those who have supported him.
Abdullah gave special thanks to Chris Jericho and Diamond Dallas Page, explaining that Jericho connected him with Page, whose DDP Yoga program has helped his recovery.
“Diamond, this is for you. For what you have done for me, I appreciate it. Chris Jericho, thank you very much—I appreciate you. I think about you all the time. If it wasn’t for people like Miss Malika and her son, I’d be out on the streets.”
Miss Malika revealed that he can now stand, raise his arms, and even start dressing himself again, things he couldn’t do before. Malika also praised his progress, saying he can now put on his clothes without help. She thanked DDP, noting that doctors avoided major surgery because of Abdullah’s age, but he has still made an incredible recovery.
“We want you all to look at him. He was not able to raise his arms, put on his coat, or change his clothes. Now, he’s able to take off his shirt and put it on. He can even put on his pants without assistance. I want to thank DDP because when you’re helping Ab, you’re helping me. The second time they did surgery, they didn’t want to do major surgery because of his age. And look at him now—the bleeding ulcer, it was taken care of.”
Abdullah the Butcher’s recovery is a powerful example of perseverance, support, and the impact of rehabilitation. With legends like Chris Jericho and Diamond Dallas Page helping him, his journey just goes to show how valuable the loyalty and kindness within the wrestling community can be.
