WWE is already moving to clean up the mess left behind by Liv Morgan’s injury—and Roxanne Perez looks like she’s getting the call-up.
Perez is expected to replace Morgan as one-half of the WWE Women’s World Tag Team Champions alongside Raquel Rodriguez. The decision comes after Morgan suffered a dislocated shoulder that completely derailed WWE’s creative plans across multiple divisions.
Morgan’s injury didn’t just sideline her—it sent WWE into full scramble mode. Behind the scenes, it’s been confirmed that Morgan was at the center of multiple storylines heading into the summer, many of which are now being rewritten on the fly.
She wasn’t just part of the tag division with Raquel. Morgan was also in the middle of a brewing feud with Nikki Bella, which had long-term plans that would’ve brought Brie Bella into the picture. She was also being positioned in storylines with Roxanne Perez, IYO SKY, and even The Judgment Day faction. In fact, just about every member of Judgment Day had some form of interaction or planned involvement with Morgan, with the exception of JD McDonagh.
To make things worse, the June 16 episode of Monday Night Raw was reportedly designed to push several of these storylines forward. But after Morgan’s injury during her match with Kairi Sane, everything fell apart.
Nikki Bella, who was scheduled to interfere in the match, was pulled from the show entirely. WWE has also been forced to hit pause on rumored plans for an Evolution 2 premium live event, at least until the creative pieces can be reshuffled.
WWE may have been holding off on confirming the decision publicly because Perez was still competing in the Queen of the Ring tournament. On the June 23 episode of RAW, Perez was eliminated from the tournament by Jade Cargill. Later that night, Adam Pearce was shown backstage on a phone call with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, hinting that they could be addressing the tag team title situation—but no official announcement was made during the broadcast.
With SummerSlam approaching fast, Roxanne Perez stepping into the tag team title picture appears to be WWE’s first major move in stabilizing the women’s division. It marks a huge opportunity for Perez, who’s been on a steady rise and now finds herself in the championship spotlight earlier than expected.
