WrestleMania might no longer be a once-a-year spectacle—WWE is reportedly considering running two WrestleManias annually, with Saudi Arabia set to play a major role in those plans.

During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE’s long-term deal with Saudi Arabia could include branding one of the major events there as WrestleMania. It wouldn’t replace the traditional U.S.-based WrestleMania, but could result in multiple shows carrying the WrestleMania name each year.

Meltzer first hinted at the plan while discussing the scope of WWE’s Saudi partnership:

“They got the Royal Rumble there next year. They got a quote ‘WrestleMania’ coming. It may be.”

Bryan Alvarez immediately questioned the wording: “Why’d you put that in quotes? Meltzer clarified the situation, suggesting WWE may brand a Saudi event similarly to how they promoted The Greatest Royal Rumble in the past.

“Because the WrestleMania may be ‘The Greatest Royal Rumble: WrestleMania’ as opposed to ‘The WrestleMania.’ But they will do a show called WrestleMania. Whether that will be a year with two WrestleManias… or…”

Alvarez pressed further, asking if that means there could be a Saudi WrestleMania and the usual WrestleMania in the United States.

“There could be. Okay? It’s the decision they have to make. You know what I mean? It’s like, if they do that—if they can do two WrestleManias in a year, two shows called WrestleMania in a year—actually, it’d be three because there’s gonna be two nights [of WrestleMania]. And then they could—maybe they’ll do two nights in Saudi Arabia too.”

According to Meltzer, the motivation behind the move is simple: WWE could ease public backlash about the Saudi deal while raking in massive revenue by attaching the WrestleMania name to the show.

“But if they do that, it eases the backlash against doing it and they can still get the money for WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia. Or, you know, they may just do WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia. I don’t know. I mean, I’m sure that, you know, the reaction to the Royal Rumble will probably, you know, factor into all this. These are all decisions that still have to be made.”

The driving force behind the entire situation? Money.

“But the point of all this is that there is much, much, much money. And I don’t think WWE wants to breach the contract.”

If WWE really does pull the trigger on multiple WrestleManias a year, it’s going to change the entire landscape of how the biggest show in wrestling is viewed. Some fans will love the idea of more spectacle, more pyro, more main events. Others will say it kills the magic. Either way, it looks like the money is talking—and WWE is listening.
