Mayu Iwatani Suffers Broken Rib

Mayu Iwatani’s run in Marigold has hit a painful roadblock. The former STARDOM star revealed on social media that she suffered a broken rib, explaining that she had to seek hospital treatment after dealing with intense pain following her latest match.

Iwatani last competed on June 21 as part of Marigold’s Anniversary Tour, teaming up in a tag match. It wasn’t until after the show that she realized something was seriously wrong. In her social media post, Iwatani shared:

“It’s been a while since I broke a bone. The pain was too much, so I went to the hospital and found out I fractured a rib. It hurts so badly I can only sleep at night.”

The injury has stalled her momentum after making the switch to Marigold earlier this year. With the new promotion working to build its roster, Iwatani’s absence comes at a tough time both for her and the company.

There’s no official word yet on how long she’ll be out of action or what this means for her role within Marigold going forward.
