Michelle McCool might be one of WWE’s most accomplished women’s wrestlers, but she still had doubts when stepping into her new coaching role on WWE LFG.
During a joint appearance with her husband The Undertaker on Sports Illustrated’s The TakeDown, McCool admitted she didn’t initially feel worthy of being around WWE legends like Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Shawn Michaels.
“You know, I really have… I don’t know about backstage on a weekly basis, but I’ve really enjoyed working with the kids down there. Going in, I kind of felt like an imposter—like what can I… you know, I’m up here with him, and Booker, and Bubba, and you know, Shawn’s running the place.”
Despite those feelings, Michelle said she eventually found her groove working with talent at the WWE Performance Center—and now she’s all-in when it comes to coaching future superstars.
“Like I tell all them, what they do in front of these guys—I would have been so nervous, so intimidated every single day. It’s incredible that they can just literally get out there, perform, take the criticism, and grow week to week. But I’ve really enjoyed it… getting to help the guys and girls and believing that I do have something to contribute to them, and having that confidence. I don’t know about a weekly basis at TV, but down at developmental—I’ve really enjoyed it.”
From self-doubt to finding her purpose, McCool is now a key force in shaping WWE’s next generation—even if she’s not chasing a weekly TV gig.
