Eddy Thorpe parted ways with WWE last month and while many people assumed WWE released him. However, it appears that’s not the case as Thorpe claimed he was the one who asked for his release.

A fan on Twitter told Eddy Thorpe that they really liked what he was posting. They said most wrestlers stay quiet about important issues, which makes it seem like they believe the wrong things. The fan also said it was nice to see someone Indigenous like him on TV.

“@KarlFredericks_ really love what you are posting. it kind of feels like most wrestlers try to be apolitical to a fault, which just makes me assume they believe the wrong things. also really liked seeing you on tv since you are also indigenous”

Eddy Thorpe revealed that he asked to leave WWE because he wanted to do something truly important with his life, saying, “I asked for my release from WWE so I could do something f****** meaningful with my life.”

A fan then replied to Eddy Thorpe, saying he only asked for his release because he couldn’t handle being in the big leagues, saying, “you asked for your release because you realized you couldn’t cut it in the big leagues.”

Thorpe fired back, saying he turned down a lot of money more than most people ever see so it wasn’t about not being good enough. He explained that he had set a goal to work in WWE, spent ten years chasing it, achieved it, and then realized it wasn’t what he wanted anymore.

“I TURNED DOWN MONEY THAT A VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE DO NOT SEE because I couldn’t cut it? What does “cutting it” mean? I set the goal to work there. I spent a decade working for it. I got it. And in my experience I came to the conclusion I didn’t want to do it.”

Another fan joked that knowing WWE, they probably would’ve made Eddy Thorpe do a back-to-back DJ set with Borgore at a Saudi show. Eddy replied that WWE wouldn’t even let him DJ for free during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas, while the wrestlers were allowed to make money through their own outside ventures.

“No. WWE wouldn’t let me DJ for free in Vegas mania weekend. While other talent got to make money on their outside ventures.”

Eddy Thorpe didn’t leave WWE because he couldn’t make it since he left to do something that truly matters to him. Right now he’s working on building a life that fits what he believes in and loves doing and so we’ll have to see what’s next in store for him in the business.
