Mariah May made her way to WWE earlier this month after she parted ways with AEW. She ended her time in AEW with a solid program with Toni Storm and now it appears May’s WWE move changed plans for All In: Texas.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, people close to Mercedes Moné said she was open to losing to Athena in order to build up a rematch at AEW All In in: Texas.

However, once AEW decided to go with a match between Toni Storm and Moné instead, it didn’t make sense for Moné to lose that match and also not win the Owen Hart Tournament. Originally, the plan months ago also included Mariah May being part of All In, but that changed when she chose not to sign a new contract with WWE.

“Those close to Mercedes Monè say she was willing to lose to Athena to build a rematch at AEW All In Texas. But when the Toni Storm vs. Mone match was decided upon, it made no sense for her to lose that match and not win the Owen Hart tournament. The original idea months back still involved Mariah May for All In, but obviously that was changed when May wasn’t going to sign a new deal.”

The CEO of AEW will be challenging Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship at All In: Texas and it’s obviously one of the most highly anticipated matches on the card. Even then, some fans still feel Mariah May facing Toni Storm at All In: Texas would’ve been a great match as well. Regardless, what’s done is done and fans are just now focused on Toni Storm facing Mercedes Moné at All In: Texas.
