Booker T is making it crystal clear—if you’re stuck in the past, you’re missing the point of today’s wrestling. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer didn’t hold back while discussing the generational shift happening inside the ring, and he’s taking direct aim at veteran wrestlers and fans who can’t stop comparing the past to the present.

Speaking with Adrian Hernandez on The Unlikely Podcast,, Booker talked about how the business has changed since his days grinding on the road. With WWE now recruiting talent through programs like NIL and LFG, he said people need to stop expecting the product to look like the 1980s or 1990s.

“It’s not the way it was when we came up… it’s not like that. And I hear a lot of these armchair quarterbacks, you know, talk about the storylines and what’s going on today with wrestling, and they got an opinion on the way the show went last night and this and that and whatnot—and I’m like, it’s never going to be like it was when we did it. It’s their generation. It’s going to be left the way they leave it.”

Then he fired the shot that’s already lighting up fan forums and locker rooms alike:

“These old heads need to get off of what these young guys are doing today because it’s their generation.”

Booker isn’t just defending modern wrestlers—he’s embracing their mindset. He explained that even though he comes from the “old school,” he’s made peace with the new pace and style of today’s performers.

“Of course I’m from the old school, okay? But I gotta be able to think like a hybrid. I gotta understand it’s not like it was back in the day. I gotta understand these guys jump off stuff these days—and they want to jump off of it. So I go, ‘Okay, when do we want to jump off of it?’ I’m gonna let you do it.”

This puts Booker on the opposite side of purists who slam current stars for using flips, big spots, or fast-paced storytelling. He’s made it clear—wrestling evolves, and if you’re not on board, step aside.
