Warner Bros. Discovery is officially planning to split into two separate companies by mid-2026 and since then, fans have been wondering how this would affect AEW in the long run. While speculation continues, Tony Khan has now addressed the split and AEW’s future.

While speaking with Yahoo Finance, Tony Khan talked about the upcoming changes at Warner Bros. Discovery. Tony Khan said he has strong relationships with the top people at Warner Bros. Discovery on both sides of the new split.

Khan mentioned that CEO David Zaslav, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels, who will lead the Global Networks division, and Bruce Campbell all helped make AEW’s deal happen and have been great partners.

“I know that AEW, for both sides of where Warner Bros. is going, we have great relationships with everybody at the top. Both on Global Networks and Streaming & Studios. Mr. Zaslav himself put our deal together. Gunnar (Wiedenfels), who will be running Global Networks, also was very involved in our deal as the CFO.

The two of them and Bruce Campbell really negotiated this deal with AEW and myself and my team. So, on both sides, we’ve got the great relationships and both sides that really love AEW and have come to be great partners with AEW.”

Khan also said 2025 is a big year for AEW, and he’s excited about the future. He pointed out that AEW is an important part of TBS and TNT, which are key TV networks, and is also growing fast on the streaming side.

“So, for us, it’s been a big year in 2025 and now we’re kind of on both sides of that equation. “We are a big part of TBS and TNT, the crown jewels of the Global Network side, and then we’re also a huge — now — part of Streaming & Studios with AEW streaming every week, so it’s exciting.”

AEW will stay on TBS and TNT for now and their current deal lasts until 2027, with a chance to extend it to 2028. Tony Khan is clearly confident about AEW’s future so we’ll have to see whether the company will remain unaffected once the split happens next year.
