AEW reached a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to make their shows available on more platforms. That’s why Dynamite airs on both TBS and the Max streaming app, and Collision is shown on TNT and Max at the same time. It’s been several months since this simulcasting began, and Tony Khan has now claimed that AEW’s cable audience has actually grown.
While speaking to Yahoo Finance, Tony Khan said that 2025 is the first year AEW is being shown at the same time on both cable TV and streaming. Khan says now fans can watch AEW every Wednesday night on TBS and Max, and every Saturday night on TNT and Max. He said the company is growing fast, and AEW is now shown in over 150 countries, with millions of people watching every week.
“This is the first year of the simulcast, so now the show airs every Wednesday night on both TBS and Max, and every Saturday night on TNT and Max. The company keeps growing and expanding — we have a huge audience. AEW is on in over 150 countries worldwide. Millions of people watch the show every week all over the planet. AEW’s grown so much.”
Tony Khan believes that 2025 is one of the best years AEW has ever had. He confirmed that the business is doing really well and making money. He claims that the new simulcast brought in more viewers on Max, but it also helped increase cable TV viewership, which many people didn’t expect.
“It feels like 2025 is, in a lot of ways, the best year we’ve had. I mean, we’re having a great year. How big is the business? How much are we making? Is it profitable? We’re doing fantastic. This was a huge year for us. We grew the business a lot with the simulcast — it brought in a new audience through Max and streaming — but also, we’ve grown our cable audience year over year.”
Khan explained that some thought people would stop watching on cable and only stream the show, but AEW’s cable audience actually went up. He says they have a strong fanbase on Max every week as well.
Over time, AEW has kept and grown a loyal audience on both cable and streaming. He ended by saying what AEW always believes, that it’s the place “where the best wrestle” and he truly believes that’s still true.
“Frankly, who’s still doing well on cable and satellite? Honestly — us. A lot of people thought when we started simulcasting AEW on Wednesday and Saturday nights, people would still watch, but most would switch to streaming. Well, actually, our cable audience went up when we started simulcasting, and we also have a great audience on Max every week.
So we’ve been able to do that, and we’ve really maintained and grown a great audience over the years. AEW — we say it’s where the best wrestle, and I really believe that’s true.”
AEW’s decision to air its shows on both TBS/TNT and the Max streaming app seems like a smart strategy, as it reaches both streaming users and traditional TV audiences. However, it’s not really known how fans truly feel about Tony Khan’s claim, especially since AEW’s overall viewership has been slowly dropping each year
