Elayna Black was released by WWE last month, which came as a shock to many. While fans are interested in her future in the business, Black has now addressed whether she would return to WWE if they called her to come back.
While speaking on the Power Alphas podcast, Elayna Black talked about being let go from WWE and whether she would ever return. Black said she didn’t want to lose her dream job, but even if WWE called her tomorrow, she wouldn’t go back right now. She said it’s not because she’s upset, it’s because she’s excited for this new chapter in her life.
At 24 years old, Black is not sure where she’ll end up or which company she’ll work for next, but she knows she is not done wrestling. Black said she has been wrestling since she was 8 years old, and it’s all she’s ever known. Losing her WWE job felt like a breakup, but she’s ready to move forward.
“Did I want to lose my dream job? No, no. But if they called me tomorrow and asked me to come back, I would say no. Because right now is the time for me. I’m excited now. Obviously, I’ve gotten past the initial shock of it all, and yeah, it comes in waves — you cry.
I’m 24 years old. I don’t know where I’ll end up. Whatever company it is, wherever I go, I do know that I’m not done wrestling. I want to keep wrestling. It’s the only thing I’ve ever known since I was 8 years old. It’s been 16 years of my life dedicated to making it to WWE. And now… it’s almost like a breakup in a way.”
Black cleared up what she meant about saying no to WWE. It’s not that she’s against the company; she’s actually very thankful for the platform they gave her. WWE helped her build her brand and gain many fans. But now, she wants to use that success to keep wrestling and also try new things.
Elayna Black said she wants to explore other wrestling companies, face new opponents, and also do things outside of wrestling. She has big dreams, and she’s ready to chase them because she’s got goals to reach and money to make.
“I’m going to go back on that really quick — and I don’t want people to think, ‘Oh, she’s lying, she says she wants to be in WWE.’ When I said if they called me tomorrow, I would say no — obviously, I didn’t want to lose my dream job.
What I meant is, if they called me tomorrow, I would still say no, because I’m excited for this time in my life and I need it. I need this time for myself — to explore not just other wrestling companies, promotions, and opponents, but also other opportunities. I want to do more than just wrestle.
I’m so thankful for the platform WWE gave me — it helped me build my brand and gain so many amazing fans. But now, I want to use that foundation to keep wrestling and also grow in other areas of life. Because I’ve got goals, and I’ve got money to make.”
This comes after Elayna Black has already made her in-ring return following her WWE release and she is more than determined to thrive in the indies. Regardless, we’ll have to see how 2025 will turn out for Black, as it’s clear she won’t be returning to WWE anytime soon.
