AEW is seizing the moment with The Beast Mortos. Just as news broke confirming his relationship with Mercedes Moné, the rising star was added to the main event of AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, replacing Claudio Castagnoli. While AEW hasn’t tied the two events together, the timing has fans talking—and AEW isn’t slowing down.
The change came just before the live broadcast, with Tony Khan announcing that Mortos would team with The Death Riders and The Young Bucks against Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata. Mortos’ addition came without a stated reason, but it couldn’t have come at a more attention-grabbing moment.
That same week, TMZ confirmed that Mortos is officially dating AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné. The confirmation followed a viral Instagram story from Mortos, featuring Moné smiling beside him. Though his face was partially hidden, the caption said it all: “In your arms I find peace.”
He also paired the post with the track “El amor de su vida”—translated as “The love of his life.” Moné later addressed the rumors herself, telling TMZ: “It’s a real beauty and the beast situation.”
This marks the first public relationship for Moné since her split from Sarath Ton, which became official nearly a year ago. She previously disclosed they had separated back in December 2020.
While AEW hasn’t commented on the timing of Mortos’ push, it’s clear they see potential. His mysterious persona and strong in-ring presence have already caught attention. Add in his real-life story—former vet tech, nurse, and soon-to-be lawyer—and Mortos is quickly becoming one of the most unique personalities in wrestling.
As for Moné, she’s thriving in every way. She holds three major titles across AEW, RevPro, and EWA. And now, she’s stepping into a new chapter of her personal life while continuing to dominate the industry.
