Nixon Newell was let go by WWE back in November 2024 after several months of absence. Even after her release, she took a long time to really get back to wrestling and now it appears a big reason for that is due to the fact that she was involved in a car accident.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Nixon Newell revealed how difficult things have been for her after her WWE departure. Not long after she was let go, she got into a serious car accident, which made her step away from wrestling to focus on her recovery and personal life.

When her 90-day waiting period ended, Nixon Newell went back home and did a few wrestling shows, but things were still hectic and wrestling was no longer her main focus.

“It is, it is definitely a hustle. And I do think that’s part of it. I went through quite a lot in the last couple of months, which unfortunately—I even made a post about it—wrestling had to take a backseat for me. Like, literally within days of being released, I was in a massive car wreck. So I’d been dealing with that.

Then when the 90-day non-compete came up, I had to head straight back home and do some shows there. But life just got so crazy that wrestling wasn’t my main focus anymore. And that’s tough to admit, but it’s true.”

That changed recently when she posted a promo on Instagram. The strong reaction from fans reminded her how much she loves wrestling. It was the push she needed to get back on track.

Newell is now working hard to get her name out there again. She’s making promos, doing photo shoots, and promoting herself to rebuild her career. She noted that wrestling has been her life since she was 16. After 14 years in the business, she knows she belongs in it, whether it’s in the ring, as a coach or in another role.

“When I posted a promo the other day on Instagram, the feedback and attention it got really hit me. It made me realize I was right—like, yeah, you’ve been slacking, and maybe wrestling shouldn’t have been pushed so far back.

Now, I’m taking the initiative—doing promos, taking pictures, putting myself back out there—doing everything I can to get the name Nick Nail back in people’s minds. That’s where I want to be.

I see myself doing nothing but wrestling for the rest of my life. Whether that’s being an active wrestler, a producer, a trainer, a coach—whatever it is. Wrestling has been my life since I was 16. This is my 14th year in wrestling.”

Regardless, Nixon Newell is now focused on her post-WWE career and she is definitely interested in making her way to AEW. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see how 2025 will turn out for the former WWE Superstar.
