The June 11th edition of AEW Dynamite Summer Blockbuster saw Komander getting written off after a vicious attack from the Hurt Syndicate. Now it appears that this was done as he suffered a legitimate injury.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Komander’s legitimate injury after he was pulled from Dynamite this week. Meltzer noted that Komander was wrestling on Sunday in Oaxaca and attempted his signature rope walk into a Fosbury Flop.

However, he slipped mid-move, and Ultimo Guerrero had to step in quickly to prevent a potentially serious accident. Komander was hurt during the spot, though the full extent of the injury is still unclear. It was noted that he is not expected to be ready in time for the Arena Mexico show on the 20th, part of Fantasticamania.

“He was wrestling on Sunday in Oaxaca and he was doing the rope walk deal and the Fosbury, he got all the way through the ropes, slipped when he was doing the Fosbury and essentially Ultimo Guerrero saved his life. But he was hurt. I don’t know the severity of it or anything but the last word I heard was that he’s not expected to be back for the Arena Mexico show on the 20th (Fantasticamania)”

Máscara Dorada ended up replacing Komander as Dorada, Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey as they took on the Hurt Syndicate. Despite their best efforts, they weren’t able to beat the Hurt Syndicate.

It is a shame that Komander got injured at this time, since AEW will be holding their Grand Slam: Mexico event this week and he simply won’t be a part of it. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see when Komander will be able to make his in-ring return.
