Jacy Jayne isn’t backing down—especially not after Mariah May’s dramatic arrival on the June 3 episode of WWE NXT.

The brand-new NXT Women’s Champion reacted for the first time to the lights-out moment that introduced May to WWE, and she didn’t mince words about the new competition.

On Busted Open Radio, Jacy was asked directly about the mysterious woman who appeared during the chaos in the women’s division—blonde hair, elegant dress, standing on the balcony in silence. The entire locker room had just confronted Jayne in the ring when the lights cut out and all attention shifted to the newcomer. Fans quickly recognized her as former AEW star Mariah May. Bully Ray didn’t waste time bringing it up.

“And then the lights went out, and when the lights came back on, there was a woman standing there with blonde hair and a dress. We don’t know who the woman was because she never said her name, right? But we kind of know this woman from another company. Your thoughts on that woman standing in that area of the arena? And what do you think she’ll mean to this division?”

Jacy Jayne gave her first on-the-record reaction to May’s debut, and while she didn’t name her directly, the message was clear:

“So at first I thought it was Tiffany. I was like, Oh my God, Tiffany’s here. But then I was like, OK, well, she doesn’t have a title. Can’t be Tiffany. But I’m excited, you know, I welcome anybody to our division. Let’s see if you can hang with our division. And it’s just another shot for me to show everyone that I’m better.”

May, who declared “I’m the next NXT Women’s Champion” in her debut segment, made it clear she has eyes on Jayne’s title. But Jacy sounds far from intimidated. Her response doubles down on the confidence she’s displayed since winning the championship—and now, it sets the stage for a fresh rivalry with one of WWE’s newest acquisitions.

Whether May is ready for NXT’s top spot or not, one thing is certain: Jacy Jayne doesn’t plan on letting the spotlight go without a fight.
