Eddie Kingston is still fighting through one of the toughest battles of his career—and this one isn’t in the ring. The AEW star, who’s been out of action since May 2024, dropped a brutally honest update on June 9, 2025, sharing footage of his ongoing rehab for the severe leg injury that sidelined him over a year ago.
In a video posted to Instagram, Kingston is seen grinding through physical therapy, recovering from a broken tibia and torn ACL and meniscus suffered during a match with Gabe Kidd in NJPW. Instead of trying to be motivational, Kingston gave fans his trademark honesty.
“I tried to find some ‘motivational’ quote, but let’s be real, sh*t sucked and I hate doing it, but it has to be done,” he wrote.
This raw update echoes what Kingston said earlier this year during an interview with Wrestling With The Narrative, where he opened up about the toll the injury has taken—both physically and mentally.
“Physically, I feel like sh*t. Mentally, I feel like sh*t. So every day, I’m just working on getting better, you know what I’m saying?”
Kingston also revealed that complications with his insurance delayed physical therapy, and just as he was ready to start, new health issues hit.
“I just got new insurance and then right when I was ready to start my new PT place, I started getting stomach issues.”
Doctors ran tests to rule out serious conditions.
“No cancer, no ulcer, no nothing,” he confirmed.
But the stress hasn’t gone anywhere.
“My primary doctor was like, ‘How’s stress for you?’ [laughs] I said, ‘How long do you have, do we need a therapist to come in here?’”
Being away from wrestling has been one of the hardest parts for Kingston.
“Not having that has really messed with my head. Thank god I have a good lady and I got good friends around me, I’m not gonna mention who because some work at other companies [laughs] and I don’t want to ruin their stuff.”
And when it comes to how he’s been holding up? He says his appearance says it all.
“As you can see, no haircut, no shave, going through my Brody era. Homicide and my mother said I look like Brody. She goes, ‘You look like that crazy guy you used to always watch.’”
Doctors initially estimated Kingston might be cleared by June 2025, but as of now, no official return date has been announced. One thing’s for sure—he’s not giving up.
