Shotzi Blackheart is officially free to chart her own path in pro wrestling—and she’s wasting no time doing it.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Shotzi’s WWE contract has officially expired, and she’s now a free agent. That means she can sign and appear anywhere immediately, without a no-compete clause tying her down.
Per the report, Shotzi was informed a little over a month ago that WWE would not be renewing her contract. Now that her deal is up, promotions have received the green light to officially announce her for appearances, including Starrcast during AEW All In weekend and Major League Wrestling.
“Shotzi was notified recently that her WWE contract would be expiring without being renewed, and it’s now officially up and she’s a free agent.”
Her first major stop post-WWE? MLW’s Summer of the Beasts event on June 26 in New York City. A chilling teaser for her arrival aired over the weekend during MLW Azteca Lucha, and the company quickly confirmed that she’s officially booked.
Shotzi is expected to work multiple MLW shows going forward. The promotion is reportedly offering her a degree of creative freedom—something that may have been lacking during her WWE run.
There’s already buzz about Shotzi potentially facing new MLW World Featherweight Champion Shoko Nakajima. That matchup would pit Shotzi’s chaotic energy against Shoko’s international credibility in what insiders say could be a major program for the promotion.
Adding to the appeal is the fact that Shotzi’s WWE contract expired naturally, rather than her being released. That allowed her to avoid the usual 90-day non-compete clause and immediately begin accepting bookings.
MLW has been working to strengthen its women’s division under Salina De La Renta, with an eye toward international stars from TJPW and CMLL. Bringing in Shotzi fits that strategy—and could be just the jolt MLW is looking for. Shotzi recently spoke about her new mindset after leaving WWE.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect this, but I just feel so free and I feel like this weight is lifted off me.”
From WWE to MLW, Shotzi Blackheart is diving headfirst into a fresh chapter, and it’s already looking like one of the most exciting runs of her career. With creative control, top-tier opponents, and no restrictions, Shotzi might finally show what WWE never let her fully become.
