Drew McIntyre is sick of CM Punk getting cheered no matter what he does—even when the fans know better.
In his new Guerilla Position: Beyond the Ring interview, McIntyre didn’t mince words when describing Punk’s bizarre grip on the audience, comparing it to something darker.
McIntyre vented about the disconnect between what Punk says and does versus how fans treat him. Even in Scotland, McIntyre’s home turf, Punk got cheers—and it left an impression.
“He has a Charles Manson-like quality. The way he’s just able to convince people to do his bidding and love him.”
The former WWE Champion was especially frustrated by the reaction Punk received during their feud, pointing out the irony of being the villain in his own country while Punk basked in the crowd’s love.
“They cheer Punk the other night… that kind of hurt. Even in Scotland. It just has that weird thing that certain people in history have. Dictators and the likes.”
McIntyre also made it clear that the animosity between them wasn’t scripted—it was real. He described their 2024 storyline as “lightning in a bottle” because of their genuine dislike for one another.
“The result of a couple of people that are really good at their job who genuinely don’t like each other… was what you saw in 2024.”
Punk’s ability to control a room, regardless of what’s happening in the ring, clearly left McIntyre both baffled and irritated—and it shows how personal their feud really was.
