WWE fans were in for a rude awakening when R-Truth and Carlito confirmed they would be leaving the company. This led to a lot of fan outrage among fans and now it appears that some WWE talent are considering exploring other opportunities instead of re-signing ahead of time.
While speaking on the post-AEW Dynamite show, Sean Ross Sapp was asked if the recent changes in WWE, including R-Truth’s exit and the news that Karrion Kross still hasn’t been offered a new contract, have made some wrestlers rethink their future with the company.
The fan asked if WWE talent who used to never consider working for Tony Khan or wrestling on the independent scene are now thinking more seriously about those options when their contracts end, even if WWE wants to keep them.
“You talked about the change in morale with WWE talent after the R-Truth exit news and how it’s made some wrestlers feel uneasy. Now with the Karrion Kross news coming out that he still hasn’t been approached for a contract renewal, it led me to this question: Have you heard from any WWE talent—lifer or not—who at one point would’ve never entertained an offer from Tony Khan or grinding it out on the indies, but are now possibly viewing those as more serious options when their contracts are up, even if WWE still wants to keep them?”
Sean Ross Sapp stated that he wouldn’t say it was tied to R-Truth’s exit, but he has heard of one or more talent starting to think about looking at other opportunities before signing a new deal early. He said that’s about all he could say on it.
“I’m not gonna say it was tied to the R-Truth thing, but yes, I have heard of person or persons that have been like, ‘Well, maybe I explore my options before signing well ahead of time.’ Yeah. Yeah. And that’s pretty much the limit I can say on that.”
We will have to wait and see whether the latest slew of WWE exits will eventually lead to more talent possibly leaving the company and going elsewhere, as it’s clear more changes could happen in the future.
