The Miz has followed up on his emotional Twitter tribute to R-Truth with new comments, breaking down his thoughts on his former tag team partner’s WWE departure—and why he still believes Truth’s story is far from over.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, The Miz reflected on Truth’s exit from WWE after it was revealed the company wouldn’t be renewing his contract. The move shocked fans and talent alike, especially given Truth’s long history with the company and his clean backstage reputation.
“Obviously, I was in a tag team with R-Truth, so it’s always sad to see something like that happen. But I think Truth will bounce on his feet. He’s a hell of a talented superstar.”
This isn’t the first time Miz has gone public about Truth’s departure. Just days earlier, he posted a heartfelt tribute on Twitter, calling their “Awesome Truth” run one of the best stretches of his career.
“Forming Awesome Truth with you was one of the best runs of my career. No one made me laugh harder. Your energy, heart, and smile lit up every room… and every arena. You’re not one of a kind, you’re one in a lifetime. Love you, Truth. Keep shining. ❤️”
Their run as Awesome Truth included a major match at Survivor Series 2011 against The Rock and John Cena—a spot most tag teams could only dream of. And despite being split up years ago, Miz has clearly never stopped respecting Truth both as a performer and a person.
WWE has still not made an official statement about the decision, and the only comment from a company official—SmackDown’s lead writer Road Dogg—was quietly deleted. According to backstage sources, many within the company were shocked by Truth’s departure and described it as “total nonsense.”
The Miz’s continued support just reinforces what fans already know: R-Truth is one of the most beloved figures in wrestling—and wherever he goes next, he’s bringing that same heart and humor with him.
