On the June 5, 2025 episode of TNA iMPACT!, Joe Hendry finally addressed the elephant in the room—his shocking loss to WWE NXT’s Trick Williams. In a tense backstage segment, Hendry opened up about dropping the TNA World Championship and the emotional weight it’s placed on him since.
Appearing alone on camera, Hendry reflected on his title reign and the feeling of letting everyone down after losing the company’s top prize to someone outside the TNA roster.
“I lost the TNA World Championship to Trick Williams and it’s hard for me because this last year has just been a whirlwind… I just felt we were taking TNA to new heights… and now the World Championship is in the hands of someone that does not work here.”
He admitted the loss has shaken him deeply—not just professionally, but personally.
“I was supposed to be the team captain and I’m the one that dropped the ball. I let myself down. I let those fans down that believed in me. I let my peers down.”
Despite his desire to reclaim the championship, Hendry acknowledged it’s no longer his spot.
“I want nothing more but to get another shot at Trick Williams… but I understand that’s not my spot right now. Elijah is next and he deserves it and I support him against all odds.”
Hendry then opened up about his history with TNA, revealing how much the company means to him.
“I started watching TNA in 2002, back when I was in high school. I did not feel that I was going to amount to much… Pro wrestling inspired me to be better and that’s carried on through my adult life.”
But Hendry didn’t get much time to wallow. Frankie Kazarian cut in and unloaded on him with a sharp verbal assault, tearing down Hendry’s speech in brutal fashion.
“Yeah, you got carried away all right, didn’t you? That self-loathing and all this talk about taking TNA to new heights like you’re some kind of saint. You’re not. And that’s coming from a king.”
Kazarian reminded Hendry exactly who he used to idolize—and made it personal.
“When you would go home after rightfully probably being bullied in school… Who were you watching, Joe? You were watching me. You were watching Frankie Kazarian build his kingdom.”
With their match set for Against All Odds, Kazarian ended with a cold promise.
“Against All Odds, I have one more opportunity to embarrass you—and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
Joe Hendry’s emotional backstage segment showed just how much that title meant to him—but Kazarian doesn’t care. He’s coming to finish the job.
