Goldberg says his final match under the WWE banner is locked in—but preparing for it hasn’t been easy, and he’s already picked up multiple injuries along the way.
On the latest episode of CarCast, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed he knows exactly when his retirement match will take place. While the date isn’t public yet, Goldberg admitted he’s been in and out of the ring lately and has already hurt himself several times trying to get back into fighting shape.
“I know the date (of my retirement match). No one else knows the date public-wise… I hurt myself a couple times in the past three months. But I pulled back.”
He explained that the pressure to perform at a high level is pushing him harder than his body can realistically handle at 58 years old.
“I’ve got a very high bar to set that I set for myself and 99 times out of a hundred, it’s unrealistic… I’ve been in the ring a couple times. I’m gonna get in the ring again today and it’s just tough, man. It is tough.”
Goldberg said his workouts have been intense, even using Muay Thai to get back in rhythm. But the process hasn’t been smooth, with shoulder and hamstring issues surfacing from pushing too hard.
“Then you go into the Muay Thai gym and hit the pads and not go crazy and then blow (your) shoulder out and blow your bicep out and pull your hamstring from throwing a high kick.”
The former Universal Champion made it clear: he’s not just showing up for a paycheck—he wants to show out one last time.
“I’m not just showing up to show up. I need to show up and be me… That was the first day that I felt really good.”
Goldberg’s final match might still be under wraps, but the effort he’s putting into it proves he wants to go out swinging—even if it hurts.
