Mariah May just shook up NXT with her dramatic arrival—but fans might want to get that name out of their mouths soon, because she won’t be using it much longer.

After debuting on the June 3 episode of WWE NXT, May dropped jaws by interrupting a massive brawl in the women’s division. The lights went down, the crowd erupted, and there she was—draped in gold and standing on the balcony like a queen claiming her throne. She made her intentions crystal clear: “I’m the next NXT Women’s Champion.”

But according to a new report from WrestleVotes, the Mariah May name might already be history. “She will be getting a new name once it’s decided upon,” the outlet revealed, confirming WWE’s plan to rebrand the former AEW star now that she’s made the jump.

May’s debut capped off a wild segment that saw NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne surrounded by challengers from all angles. Lainey Reid, Lola Vice, Jordynne Grace, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Lash Legend all stormed the scene—until May’s appearance froze the chaos.

“The best women’s division in the world just got a lot more glamorous,” she declared, making it known she’s here for the top prize and not to play second fiddle anymore.

Mariah May’s path to WWE ran through the UK indie scene and a standout run in Stardom before landing her in AEW’s “Timeless” storyline alongside Toni Storm. While that story had potential, AEW ended it sooner than expected—perhaps because May’s eyes were already on Orlando.

Now she’s officially part of WWE—just not for long under the name Mariah May. Fans can expect a full repackaging soon, which has become tradition when stars jump from another promotion.
