Kelly Kelly started her WWE career as part of the company’s ECW brand and later becoming a Women’s Champion. While she did see lots of success, she eventually stepped away from professional wrestling in 2012 and has now revealed why she decided to leave wrestling in the first place.

While speaking to the Wrestling Classic, Kelly Kelly explained that she decided to leave pro wrestling on her own terms, which she knows not everyone gets to do. She said she was feeling exhausted while doing house shows, and her body was hurting. She realized that when her heart wasn’t fully in it, it started to show in her performances and her character.

Kelly Kelly said she didn’t want to give the crowd anything less than her best, and when she felt like she couldn’t deliver at 100%, she knew it was time for a break. She needed time to recover, regroup, and figure out what she truly wanted to do next.

“I did. I was very lucky. I was doing some house shows and I was just so tired. My body was hurting, and I felt like when your heart isn’t in it 100%, it shows in your matches. It shows in your character. It’s just hard to really give 100% when you’re not feeling it.

I didn’t want to go out there and have a s***** match, you know? I want to give the crowd what they paid to see. And yeah, I just thought, ‘Okay, I need a break. I need to get it together, figure out what I want to do next, where my heart is.'”

After her WWE departure in 2012, Kelly Kelly would make a few appearances, as she competed in the 2018, 2022 and 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match and once even picked up a surprise win when she captured the 24/7 Championship during a special guest spot on Raw.

As for her current status in pro wrestling, Kelly Kelly recently appeared during TNA Wrestling’s Border Pro event and she might just make an appearance on TNA programming again in the future. Therefore, we’ll have to see if that will happen in the end as fans would definitely love that.
