R-Truth and Carlito’s WWE departures have left fans stunned and social media in chaos. Despite both men still appearing on television—Carlito involved in an active storyline with The Judgment Day, and R-Truth featured regularly in comedic segments—WWE informed them that their contracts would not be renewed.

According to the June 2, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the decision came directly from Paul “Triple H” Levesque as part of internal roster management. These weren’t disciplinary moves or creative missteps—they were business calls.

“They’re looking at the numbers. They’re looking at how many people they have to cut or how much money they have to cut. And those were the picks. Those were the Levesque picks. And that’s what it is.”

Carlito’s release in particular raised eyebrows, as he was mid-program with consistent screen time. Yet according to Meltzer, the directive was clear: WWE needed to trim down, and Triple H made the final call.

Fan backlash came quickly. After the news broke, Triple H’s social media posts—including one congratulating El Hijo del Vikingo—were bombarded with angry comments demanding answers about R-Truth and Carlito’s exits. Fans hijacked the replies with messages like “JUSTICIA POR R-TRUTH” and “Rehire R-Truth right now,” turning what should have been a celebratory post into a protest.

The company has yet to release an official statement, but the backlash has been immediate—and fierce. Whether that will affect future decisions remains to be seen.

Triple H might’ve seen Carlito and R-Truth as numbers on a spreadsheet—but to fans, they were part of the soul of the show. Cutting two veterans who were still connecting with the audience has only fueled distrust in WWE’s direction under the TKO banner. If this is the new era of “business first,” the backlash is proof that fans won’t just sit quietly and accept it.
