Ricochet’s solo run in AEW hasn’t seen much success lately, which is why he is currently planning on creating a new faction for himself. While there’s no confirmation who will join him, he has revealed what kind of stars he is looking for.

While speaking to K104, Ricochet was asked what he needed in his new faction and he explained that he’s still figuring it out. He’s looking for people who can get the job done, but there are a lot of factors to consider. He admitted the process won’t be quick and even mentioned he might recruit talent from other factions. Right now, he’s keeping a close eye on everyone.

Ricochet said he needs to test different wrestlers to see who fits. It could be someone already in a faction, two singles competitors or even a tag team. The truth is he doesn’t know yet.

Ricochet is relying on what he calls the “eye test,” watching closely to see who has what it takes. He referenced how MJF had to hurt someone to join the Hurt Syndicate, suggesting he’s looking for people willing to go the extra mile and do whatever it takes, just like Ricochet.

“I’m trying to see who can really do what I need to do to get, you know, the job done. Uh, so there’s a—there’s a lot of factors that go into that. So there’s a lot of things I’m going to be looking out for. Again, it’s not going to be a quick process, I don’t think. I mean, maybe I might poach people from other factions. That’s what I’m saying. I’m keeping my eye out.

I got to, you know, I got to uh, try everybody out, you know? I got to see who—who—who’s going to work for me. And it might be somebody in a faction. It might be, you know, two singles guys. It might be a tag guy. I might—I don’t really—I—that’s the problem. I don’t know yet. Okay? I just got to do the eye test.”

You know, they—they always say the eye test. Yeah. You got to see the eye test first. See who—see who visually does what you think needs to be done. Like, you know, MJF to get into the Hurt Syndicate, he had to hurt somebody, right? So, that’s what I’m looking for. Who can do what Ricochet does and gets the job done.”

When asked about Will Ospreay possibly joining his group to help him win a title, Ricochet was hesitant. He said Ospreay still has a lot to learn, not just in wrestling but in life.

Ricochet believes Ospreay can’t always take the nice or easy route and needs more life experience before he’d be ready to join him. Ricochet described Ospreay as still being a bit immature, like a baby deer, but admitted that he could possibly be considered in the future.

“I think—I think Ospreay, he’s got a lot of learning he needs to do before he joins me. I think he’s got a lot of real-life learning he needs to do. You know what I’m saying? Can’t always turn the cheek. You know, he can’t always do the—you know, he’s got a lot of life experience that he’s got to go through before he—he joins me.

He’s a little too—he’s a—he’s a little kid right now. A little—a little baby deer right now. So, he might be an aspirant. May—possibly. Yeah.”

We will have to wait and see whether Ricochet will end up taking some underutilized stars under his wing and form his new faction, as fans are definitely interested in seeing what he will do in the end.
