Carlito is officially on his way out of WWE, and he’s going out the same way he came in—cool, sarcastic, and completely unbothered.
Moments after reports surfaced confirming that WWE would not be renewing his contract, the former Intercontinental Champion took to Twitter to confirm the news himself in classic Carlito fashion.
“My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed. On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently ‘stealing money’ from the company. I’ve had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money😳”
Carlito quickly shifted from jokes to gratitude, giving fans one final nod as he prepares to close this chapter.
“All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho! PS…I’ll reappear again in another 13yrs. Dios me los bendiga!”
The 46-year-old veteran had already wrapped up his most recent WWE run back at WrestleMania 41 weekend, competing in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in Las Vegas. That appearance now stands as his final in-ring match for the company.
Carlito, son of WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colón, was first signed by WWE in 2003 and built a legacy that included reigns as Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champion. He was released in 2010, but after years on the independent scene, he made brief WWE returns in the 2021 Royal Rumble and again in 2023 following a huge crowd reaction at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico.
That moment led to a full-time contract and a spot on Raw as part of The Judgment Day faction. While his presence was felt, his in-ring action slowed down, with WWE rarely utilizing him between appearances. Now that his exit is confirmed, Carlito isn’t waiting around—he just won WWC’s Puerto Rican Championship after defeating Ray Gonzalez, signaling that his focus has already shifted back to Puerto Rico and the independent grind.
Carlito didn’t just spit apples—he spat truth. And with one final jab, he left WWE the way only he could: laughing.
What did you think of Carlito’s WWE comeback and this exit? Should the company have done more with him? Drop your thoughts and reactions in the comments.
