The injury to Zoey Stark during the May 19 episode of WWE Raw didn’t just shake up the match — it completely altered the original outcome.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying triple threat between Stark, Rhea Ripley, and Kairi Sane was set to go in a different direction before chaos struck.
“So Sane lost her first match back, which obviously wasn’t the plan,” Meltzer explained. “They had no choice, they had to do what they had to do.”
Stark was pulled from the match early after suffering what appeared to be a knee injury just moments in. She was helped to the back during a commercial break, leaving Ripley and Sane to finish the match without her.
The finish saw Kairi Sane — who made her return that night with her iconic Pirate Princess gimmick — take the pin, something WWE reportedly never intended. The sudden change turned what should’ve been a standout return into a rough reintroduction for Sane, all due to the unexpected injury.
As of now, WWE has yet to release any official update on Stark’s condition. But it’s clear that her injury didn’t just impact her — it reshaped the entire direction of a major Money in the Bank qualifying match.
Do you think WWE should give Kairi Sane another shot after being forced to take the loss? And what’s next for Zoey Stark if she’s out for an extended period? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
