Despite mounting speculation that WWE is bringing back its all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution for the first time since 2018, the company’s talent reportedly remains in the dark about the event’s status.

During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp addressed the ongoing rumors, revealing that he’s spoken with multiple WWE stars who have no idea if Evolution II is happening. “So Evolution, it’s something I’ve been following up on a lot. Talent that I have talked to don’t know about it. I haven’t heard about it, so working on it as we speak,” Sapp said, suggesting that if WWE is planning the event, they haven’t informed the roster.

This update comes after a March 27 report from @WrestleVotes, which claimed that WWE was planning to bring back Evolution on July 5 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The tweet stated, “After speaking with sources, we can confirm WWE is set to bring back the ‘Evolution’ PLE this summer. The return of the all-women’s event is expected to be officially announced before WrestleMania.”

The claim was credited to wrestling reporter Cory Hays, who had previously heard rumblings about the event. However, Sapp’s comments now cast doubt on that report, as it appears WWE talent hasn’t been looped in on any such plans.

Adding to the confusion, Charlotte Flair addressed the Evolution rumors during a recent interview. While Flair didn’t confirm or deny the event, she made it clear that she’s heard the same rumors as everyone else. “I really don’t know. I hope it does. I hear all these rumors. I mean, it’s been a couple of years, so I think it would be a good time to [do it],” Flair said.

For Flair, it’s not just about one night. “I think, really, it’s just more about having more women’s storylines and more women’s main events. So, whether we have Evolution II or not, I think, overall, we need that regardless,” she added, emphasizing that WWE needs to focus on consistent women’s representation across all programming.

With conflicting reports and talent seemingly left in the dark, WWE’s plans for Evolution II remain unclear. Will WWE officially announce the event, or is it just another rumor that will fizzle out?
